So, being as I work with Cancer patients there are bound to be frustrating days (or nights as the case may be). Well, I left report wondering what in the heck are we doing! Sure there are days when lives are saved, differences are made, but some days tears are cried (and not the good kind). So why is it that these amazing, wonderful people are pushed to the very edge? It is all so unfair. Yes, that is such a childish view, but wouldn't it be nice if just for one day life was fair? That good people would survive and their families wouldn't mourn. That a three year old wouldn't have to cry outside her Dad's hospital room with a homemade Father's day card unable to go inside because of the sniffles????? I can't count the times that I have sat on the edge of the bed of a certain patient and just let the tears roll. This is just the hardest place to keep your cool. However isn't that what makes it all worth it? If we didn't love a care for those we serve I guess we wouldn't be nurses. So, here's to all of my fellow nurses-- sporting the blue gowns and purple gloves

Hey Jen..that was so touching..and so true! You are an amazing nurse and your patients are blessed to have you..just like I am lucky to have you as a friend. You amaze me. Keep up the good work..it's the patients and the friendships that make this all worth it. I love you.

Jen you have an incredibly challenging job but also one of the most rewarding. I have to ask you if you have seen The Bucket List? Its about two cancer patients who try and accomplish alot in their lives before they kick the bucket. It is such a good show and Hallie watched the entire thing without moving she asked questions throughout the show about why these men were dying and sick. I could not beleive it and at the end she cried her eyes out. I was so sad. But she understood the movie and wanted to help them so they wouldn't die. Maybe she will be a nurse someday and be able to help people like that. She seemed very interested but she is only 4 but maybe. I highly recommend the movie.

Well, I am being grumpy at work and that just made me cry! We really do have the most amazing patients who are truly pushed to the limit. I am always amazed at how strong and uplifting they are to me. We really are fortunate to be able to learn from our patients.

I know we do two completely different things but since we are both in healthcare, I thought I would leave a comment. I just think the comfort and the TLC given to patients are what make us who we are. There are some really sad situations we witness..but they make us stronger, better people and help us realize the small things we take for granted. Here's a shout out to all of you in healthcare, no matter what position you hold or where you work--thanks for all you do. You make an amazing difference in people's lives!
