Trip down Memory Lane

Laura posted this fun game on her blog, so I thought I would give it a try.

1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments(Rori). Oh, and for all my nursing friends--try to keep it clean, this is a family site:)

Tag I'm It!

So, What is in my purse?

This is my no-name-brand purse. I think it was 15 dollars. I'm a big spender when it comes to purses :). I usually end up with melted chocolate or fruit snacks all over the bottom of my bags, so I try to buy the cheap ones that are easily replaced.

Pretty messy for someone with OCD. I have chapstick and lipgloss--a must. Kira's tootsie roll a sucker from the bank. Andes mints and a wrapper. A dollar, 21 cents. Tylenol which is a necessity with three children in the car. My fortune that reads "The world will soon be ready to receive your talents". Kira's hair clip, a pen, a McDonald's receipt, my wallet, and one earring (I lost the other one at the batman movie. What is not in my purse is the straw that I picked up at the movies, which I used at chilli's. It was a good thing I put that in there otherwise I wouldn't have had a straw, and also the napkins I had to use to clean the Dr. Pepper I spilled on my shirt when Jorge got me all flustered (apparently that is easy to do). So, what is in your purse?---I TAG ANYONE WHO READS THIS!

Happy Birthday

So today Trever is 32 . . . again. So, Happy Birthday!!!! Unfortunately I am going to work today, so he gets to spend his birthday the same way he spent our anniversary....at home with the kids. So, hopefully we will be able to escape this week sometime and have a little fun to celebrate. My three favorite things about Trever are
1--he is a positive person and is always trying to look on the bright side of things
2--He is great with the kids, anyone's kids for that matter--He is just so much fun to be around
3--He is always trying to make me smile and laugh, though sometimes I act annoyed, I think it is really sweet.
So, here's to you honey on your birthday---I love you.

Saying Goodbye

My heart goes out to three courageous people who lost their battle with cancer this week. I was amazed by their strength and they have all touched by life and changed me for the better. I am so blessed to be able to care for such amazing people. My heart also goes out to their families who were always there through thick and thin. So maybe you could all throw a prayer their way.

Bryce's Birthday Bash

This was Bryce's Birthday Surprise. . . A HUGE blow up water park. We set it up and the kids have played in it nearly every day since. I even took a turn down the slide. I think it looks pretty white trash in our yard, but as long as the kids love it I guess that doesn't matter.

Brynn and Steele came over to celebrate the day and play in the pool.

On Sunday afternoon we had a bar-b-Q at Bonnie's to celebrate Bryce and Bonnie's birthdays. We took the water park along for all the cousins to play. It was a big hit with all the kids.

The case of the missing remote

So since my last post was so emotional, I decided to lighten things up a bit and tell a funny story. Once a month I work a Saturday/Sunday back to back. I leave before the kids wake up and I get home after they are already in bed, which means--Trever is on his own with the kids for two days. This usually means that the house and yard is in complete disarray by Sunday night (no offense honey). Well, two weeks ago, while I was working, the remote was lost. I have looked everywhere. I must say I wasn't surprised--thinking that during my days at work it must have been misplaced. Well, by monday I was too busy to think about it and one item on my to-do-list was to fix the hole in the seam of the bedspread. The kids always stick their feet in it to crawl in our bed and now it was a huge gaping hole. I rounded up my needle and thread and sewed it up and that was that. During this week I have been on Trever's case about helping me find the remote. I told him to just think if he had seen the kids with it during those two days. I nagged and nagged. I think he was pretty offended actually--Soooo today I was making the bed and the bedspread was sagging at the bottom----That's right folks--I had sewn the remote into our bedspread. I don't know how it got in the hole, but I didn't even notice it when I sewed up the hole. I called Trever to apologize and we both got a pretty good laugh about it.

3 am thoughts

So, being as I work with Cancer patients there are bound to be frustrating days (or nights as the case may be). Well, I left report wondering what in the heck are we doing! Sure there are days when lives are saved, differences are made, but some days tears are cried (and not the good kind). So why is it that these amazing, wonderful people are pushed to the very edge? It is all so unfair. Yes, that is such a childish view, but wouldn't it be nice if just for one day life was fair? That good people would survive and their families wouldn't mourn. That a three year old wouldn't have to cry outside her Dad's hospital room with a homemade Father's day card unable to go inside because of the sniffles????? I can't count the times that I have sat on the edge of the bed of a certain patient and just let the tears roll. This is just the hardest place to keep your cool. However isn't that what makes it all worth it? If we didn't love a care for those we serve I guess we wouldn't be nurses. So, here's to all of my fellow nurses-- sporting the blue gowns and purple gloves
